Disney is shutting down production on most live-action films
Disney is shutting down the production of a number of live-action films for an unspecified amount of time due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
“While there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on our productions, after considering the current environment and the best interests of our cast and crew, we have made the decision to pause production on some of our live-action films for a short time,” Disney said in a statement. “We will continue to assess the situation and restart as soon as feasible.”
The films include:
- “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”
- “Peter Pan and Wendy”
- “Shrunk”
- “The Little Mermaid,” starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, which was scheduled to begin shooting next week in London.
- “The Last Duel,” starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver, and Ben Affleck, was in production in Ireland.
- “Nightmare Alley,” starring Bradley Cooper, was in the middle of production.
Earlier this week, Disney announced it was pulling three films from their scheduled release date.
