9 big things coming to Disney World in February 2022

Restaurants, tours, a cavalcade, a stage show and a half marathon are just some of the big things happening at Walt Disney World in February.

Below are some of the big things to watch out for, in addition, remember that the day after the Super Bowl, Feb. 14 (which is also Valentine’s Day), is normally also the day that the Super Bowl MVPs visit Disney World.

So, pull up or bring out your calendars, and mark these dates down for all the big things coming to Disney World in February.

Feb. 3 – Turf Club Bar and Grill Reopens

The Turf Club Bar and Grill at Saratoga Springs will reopen on Feb. 3 , with dishes that include the New York Cider-braised Mussels appetizer flavored with garlic, chorizo, fennel, Fresno chili, and apple cider topped with a grilled baguette, the Grilled Pork Chop, Braised Lamb Tagliatelle  and the New York Cheesecake.

Feb. 6 – Keys to the Kingdom Returns 

You can again unlock the history of the Magic Kingdom an gain backstage access in the Keys to the Kingdom 5-hour walking tour starts back up. Here you get the inside school as you explore the secret locations; uncover the hidden secrets of classic attractions at Magic Kingdom park; access the famed underground “Utilidor” tunnels that allow people and supplies to travel beneath the park unseen and discover little-known facts, trivia and other exciting tidbits about the park.

Feb. 6 – Souk-al-Magreb Reopens

The gift shop in the Morocco pavilion at EPCOT – Souk-al-Magreb – reopens Feb. 6. In late 2020 Disney took over ownership of the Morocco Pavilion and reopened the shop featuring Aladdin merchandise. About four months ago it closed again for another refurbishment. It is unknown yet what the interior will look like or what the contents of the gift shop will contain. 

Feb. 6 – Animal Kingdom Tours Resume

Special behind-the-scenes tours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom return where you can see elephants, rhinos and climb over a rope bridge. The tours that are back include: 

Caring for Giants: Delve into the wondrous world of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s largest inhabitants. During this 60-minute experience, you’ll meet with a guide who will provide insight into the inner workings of our African elephant herd. Your guide will provide a glimpse into the day-to-day care of these amazing animals and share stories of Disney’s conservation efforts dedicated to the preservation of wild populations throughout the world. Throughout this experience, you’ll be able to observe the elephants from approximately 80 to 100 feet away—so you’ll enjoy a closer encounter with the elephants than you would during other in-park experiences.

Wild Africa Trek: Walk along a grassland path, cross a rope bridge over crocodiles and ride in a safari vehicle over an open savanna—with a chance to view African creatures including towering giraffes, powerful rhinos, hippos and crocodiles. Along your journey, your knowledgeable guide will share insights about the majestic animals you’re viewing, as well as details about the park’s dedication to animal conservation.

Up Close with Rhinos: This 60-minute tour takes you backstage to meet the planet’s second-largest land animal. As your guides introduce you to the white rhinos at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, they’ll offer insights into the species’ behavior and biology, and discuss the challenges that threaten populations in the wild.

Savor the Savanna: Explore the sights, sounds and tastes of Africa on Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Savor the Savanna tour available for booking later this month. Indulge in a sampling of African-inspired cuisine, paired with a selection of regional beer and wine offerings, as you gaze out across the Harambe Wildlife Reserve. And listen as a private guide shares tales of the unique residents who inhabit the reserve and the special animal care provided at the park. 

Feb. 11 – New Cavalcade debuts

A new “Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade!” debuts at Magic Kingdom. Nearly 30 Disney and Pixar characters will be part of this special super-sized cavalcade featuring Nick and Judy from “Zootopia,” Baloo and King Louie from “The Jungle Book,” José Carioca and Panchito from “The Three Caballeros,” plus Merida, Moana, The Incredibles, and the Magic Kingdom debut of Miguel from “Coco.”

Feb 11 – Frontierland Hoedown Returns

The Frontierland Hoedown Happening returns to Magic Kingdom featuring Disney characters and cast members dancing in the streets at surprise intervals. The experience will be modified for physical distancing, but exact details have not been announced.

Feb. 17 – Jiko Reopens

Jiko – The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopens on Feb. 17, featuring the tastes and flavors of African, Indian, and Mediterranean cuisine. For the shellfish lovers try out the Seafood Tagine, filled with prawns, scallops, squid, and Littleneck clams. For dessert try the Kilimanjaro  with dark chocolate mousse, pistachio financier, pink peppercorn meringue, cacao nib crunch, and ras el hanout pineapples.

Feb. 24-27 – Ultimate Princess Weekend

The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend features events for all skill levels, coveted regal medals and Disney entertainment. “Be inspired by some of your favorite Disney heroes to new heights of courage and kindness that propel you triumphantly to the finish line that ends with happily ever after!” runDisney encourages. There is a 5K on Feb. 25, 10K on Feb. 26 and the half-marathon on Feb. 27.

Feb. 25 – Magic Kingdom Stage Show Returns

The stage show on Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage at Magic Kingdom is a fan favorite and has been sorely missed. Disney is not only bringing the show back but is enhancing it for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration.

“Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” will make its debut on Feb. 25 with a new opening and a new finale featuring Mickey Mouse and all his friends in their sparkling, EARidescent fashions, plus an all-new original song entitled “Where the Magic Feels Like Home.” The show still includes scenes inspired by “Frozen,” “Tangled,” and “The Princess and the Frog” (can’t wait to see Louis the alligator play again).
