Disney Springs institutes formal security screening at entrances

Disney Springs is now performing a security screening of guests entering the shopping and dining district using the same technology they have switched over to at the four theme parks.

This marks the first time a formal screening is being done when entering the this Walt Disney World destination. Security screening has been used for years to enter Universal’s CityWalk area.

Disney is using the new EVOLV security scanners that are being used at its four theme parks. The scanners, which can screen over 800 people an hour uses an AI software platform to distinguish between threats such as a gun and everyday things like a cell phone. Security will see a real-time image on a screen showing potential threats.

This is a contactless security measure. If the machine believes it finds something, you will then be asked to open a bag.

The scanners are expected to be placed at all entry points to Disney Springs.
