12 big things happening in the Disney Universe in June 2018
It is now summer, ok, it is not officially summer on the calendar until June 21, but the Disney Universe is already in summer full summer mode.
This month will see the opening of a major new land in Walt Disney World, a re-imagined land opening in Disneyland, a celebration of superheroes (both Marvel and Pixar) and a classic show debuting in a new language.
So let’s see what we all have to look forward to this month.
June 1: Disney Parks live stream of sunrise
Disney Parks will kick off the month with a live stream of sunrise over Epcot at Walt Disney World. The stream begins at 5:45 a.m. ET.
June 2: FanDaze is held in Disneyland Paris
For one night only, guests can take part in the ultimate Disney fan experience at Walt Disney Studios Park with exclusive new shows, rare Disney character encounters, original dining menus, a chance to hear from Disney Imagineers and more as part of Disney FanDaze, a one-of-a-kind inaugural hard ticket event only at Disneyland Paris!
June 8: Special preview of ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’
Disneyland will be hosting a special preview of “Ant-Man and The Wasp” from June 8 to July 15, 2018, at the Tomorrowland Theater. The movie will be released in theaters on July 6, 2018.
June 9: Guardians of the Galaxy concert starts at Disney World
Star-Lord and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy will take guests on a musical journey through the cosmos in “Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live!” at the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot. Guests can catch “Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live!” five times a day from June 9 through August 19. It is included with theme park admission and is part of Walt Disney World’s lineup of “Incredible Summer” offerings.
June 10: Marvel Super Heroes come to Disneyland Paris
Disneyland Paris hosts Marvel Summer of Super Heroes from June 10 to Sept. 30. Superheroes will take the stage for a brand new, live-action production featuring cutting-edge special effects and spectacular projections.
June 11: Moonlight Magic at Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
This is the second Moonlight Magic event for Disney Vacation Club members in which they get access to select attractions throughout the park, with shorter-than-usual wait times, meet-and-greets with unique Characters, a DJ dance party and complimentary light refreshments. The event is sold out.
June 14: Beauty and the Beast Mandarin production debuts
The hit Broadway musical “Beauty and the Beast” kicks off in Mandarin at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre in Disneytown next month! Tickets will go on sale starting May 24.
June 15: “Incredibles 2” opens in theaters
The follow up to the popular 2004 film is released. The movie has the Parr family struggling to maintain normal lives while Helen Parr (Elastigirl) goes out to fight crime. Her husband, Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) stays home watching over the children, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack, all who have secret powers. The family, along with Frozone, are going to have to battle a supervillain who will have a sinister plot to take over (the Incredibles, The Earth, The Universe, who knows).
June 21: H20 Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon
On select summer nights starting June 21, special lighting effects will transform Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World like never before as Buzz, Woody and Jessie throw a Beach Party inspired by their friend, “Partysaurus” Rex. Come join the fun, dance on the beach, play party games, and meet up with Buzz, Woody and Jessie, plus, all attractions are open for guest enjoyment. Disney H2O Glow Nights will take place only at Typhoon Lagoon on Thursdays and Saturdays from June 21 to Aug. 11 from 8 to 11 p.m. The cost is $55 for adults and $50 for children ages 3-9 (plus tax).
June 22: VIP-style premiere event for Pixar Pier
Disney is throwing a VIP-style premiere event for newly re-imagined Pixar Pier at California Adventure park in the Disneyland Resort complete with a red carpet.
June 23: Pixar Pier opens at California Adventure
This is it. This big official opening of Pixar Pier at California Adventure park in Disneyland. The re-imagined area that was Paradise Pier has been remade and will include four neighborhoods featuring the Incredicoaster, Pixar-Pal-Around, four new quick-service areas and the new Lamplight Lounge.
June 30: Toy Story Land opens
Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World finally opens. This new 11-acre land is designed to make guests feel like they have shrunk to the size of a toy. The setting is Andy’s backyard from Disney-Pixar’s “Toy Story” franchise. There, you will find Andy’s toys— Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the gang—plus the new Slinky Dog Dash, the new Alien Swirling Saucers and new entrance to Toy Story Mania and a new quick-service restaurant.
