Disney World starts hurricane meal kit service at resort hotels
The Walt Dinsey World resort hotels have now started serving hurricane meal kits for guests staying at the hotels as Hurricane Ian slams into Florida.
Disney has closed its theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs entertainment/dining/shopping area for Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 as Hurricane Ian, which is currently a Category 4 hurricane, is expected to make landfall today north of Fort Myers area and go up the middle of the state over Disney World.
Available at most quick service locations while supplies last, meal kits are priced between $5 and $7 for adults, and $4 – $6 for kids.
Dining options for those staying in the resort hotels during Hurricane Ian vary, and in some cases may be very limited. Where available, restaurants are accepting walk-ups only. Guests will not need dining reservations
Disney is also providing character meet and greet enhancements at the resort hotels, along with free play at arcades to keep guests engaged.
Guests will most likely be asked to shelter in their room as the worst of the storm passes. This has been standard operating procedure in previously instances.
Disney plans to reopen on Friday, Sept. 30, but it could be in limited ways. The storm, which is expected to drop at leas a foot rain on the area, could cause waterways to rise and delay the reopening of some boat transportation, as happened after Hurricane Irma, five years ago.
