EPCOT Festival of the Holidays 2026: Dates and Returning Events Announced

For decades, Disney World has treated its theme parks as canvases for massive cultural curation. Nowhere is that approach more evident than at EPCOT, a park designed around the twin concepts of human achievement and international community. This winter, that mission takes a festive turn as the resort prepares for the return of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays.

The month-long celebration is scheduled to run from Nov. 27 through Dec. 30, 2026. Kicking off, per tradition, the Friday immediately following Thanksgiving, the festival serves as a mosaic of holiday customs, blending culinary arts, live theater, and multicultural education into a highly choreographed winter spectacle.

Global Narratives: The World Showcase Storytellers

EPCOT Festival of the Holidays

The festival’s distinct programming relies heavily on its World Showcase Storytellers. Rather than relying solely on traditional American secular tropes, Disney utilizes its international pavilions to highlight how diverse cultures navigate the winter season.

Throughout the day, live performers bring folklore, religious traditions, and regional history to life through interactive monologues and musical performances.

Visitors navigating the 1.1-mile World Showcase lagoon will encounter:

  • Mexico Pavilion: The vibrant musical echoes of the Las Posadas celebration.
  • Norway Pavilion: A humorous encounter with a mischievous, magical Barn Santa.
  • China Pavilion: The athletic artistry of the Chinese Lion Dancer paired with the acoustic textures of the Si-Zhu Trio.
  • Germany Pavilion: A deep dive into the heritage of the Adventskalender.
  • Italy Pavilion: The midwinter tales of La Befana.
  • Japan Pavilion: The symbolic cultural traditions of the Daruma storyteller.
  • France Pavilion: The classic seasonal reflections of Père Noël.
  • United Kingdom Pavilion: The Victorian nostalgia of Father Christmas.
  • Canada Pavilion: A musical journey courtesy of the Canadian Holiday Voyageurs.
  • Between Morocco and France: A dedicated Hanukkah Storyteller exploring global Jewish traditions.

For traditionalists tracking the geography of the North Pole, Santa Claus will hold court inside CommuniCore Hall for daily greetings, while a festively attired Goofy—donning his own interpretation of Santa’s suit—will anchor photo opportunities at The Odyssey pavilion.

The Sound and Spectacle of Tradition

Musically, the festival relies on a trio of major productions designed to capture both religious and secular dynamics of the season.

The Candlelight Processional

The festival’s emotional centerpiece remains the Candlelight Processional at the America Gardens Theatre. The nightly event features a mass choir and a full live orchestra accompanying a rotating lineup of celebrity narrators who read the traditional Christmas story. Disney officials note that celebrity narrator schedules and corresponding dining packages—which guarantee seating for the perennially packed shows—will be announced later this year.

JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season

Juxtaposing the classical structure of the processional, JOYFUL! offers a high-energy, soulful performance exploring the traditions of Christmas and Kwanzaa. The production leans heavily into gospel, jazz, and R&B, offering a rhythmic counterpoint to the park’s more formal offerings.

Voices of Liberty

Inside the American Adventure pavilion, the park’s premier a cappella ensemble transforms into the Dickens Carolers. Dressed in meticulously crafted Victorian-era attire, the group performs complex, multi-part harmonic arrangements of classic holiday carols.

Food and Fun Displays

The modern theme park industry relies heavily on limited-time food and beverage offerings to drive repeat attendance, and EPCOT’s Holiday Kitchens are a testament to that strategy. Marketplace booths scattered around the park will serve regionally specific winter dishes and beverages, allowing guests to sample global comfort food.

To gamify the culinary experience, Disney is bringing back the Holiday Cookie Stroll. Guests who purchase five designated cookies from different kitchens receive stamps in a festival passport, which can ultimately be redeemed for an exclusive completion treat.

The park’s physical landscape will undergo its own seasonal evolution. The park’s structural icon will house the Gingerbread Spaceship Earth display. The sculpture will be accompanied by a “Celebration Countdown” light and music show that projects across the real geodesic sphere every 15 minutes after dark.

Beneath the surface, the Living with the Land boat attraction will transition into Glimmering Greenhouses, illuminating Disney’s agricultural science facilities with thousands of twinkling lights. For younger demographics, Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt offers an interactive map-based search across the park, while sensory-focused guests can explore Festive Fragrances presented by Scentsy, an outdoor garden walk featuring snow globes infused with scents representing global holidays from Noche Buena to Diwali.
