Disney Unveils Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Balloon for 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Disney revealed its newest giant parade balloon set to take flight in the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this November – Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey.

The massive balloon was inflated for the very first time in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort during the D23 Fant Event, giving visitors an exclusive first look at the spectacle before it hits the streets of New York City.

The debut marks a major milestone in a long-standing partnership. It all started in 1934 when Mickey Mouse, the iconic symbol of Disney, soared above the crowds. This marked the debut of Disney balloons in the parade, a tradition that continues to captivate audiences to this day. Over the years, a host of Disney characters have joined the parade, including beloved figures like Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and the mischievous Chip ‘n’ Dale.

Selecting the character for the 100th parade was an easy decision, according to Joseph Titizian, Senior Manager of Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products. “When we had to select a character to appear in the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, there was only one choice: the most iconic character in the world, Mickey Mouse,” said Titizian. “And Mickey Mouse’s most iconic role is that of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, so we wanted to bring his joy, optimism, imagination, and wonder to make this 100th parade even more magical.”

The new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon will join the historic NYC parade route this November, starting on the Upper West Side and marching down through Manhattan.

In addition, Disney and Macy’s have come up new product line of more than 100 items. The products showcase Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters from iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade eras.

Select items are available now on macys.com, with the full collection rolling out to select Macy’s stores nationwide later this fall.
