Disney Starlight Parade shines bright with new character
Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom is set to debut its new nighttime parade, “Disney Starlight,” offering guests an immersive new entertainment experience. Details regarding the parade, including the introduction of an original character named Whimsy, were recently highlighted in an episode of the “We Call It Imagineering” series.
The “We Call It Imagineering” episode provided a behind-the-scenes look at the development of “Disney Starlight,” showcasing the innovative floats, intricate choreography, and advanced technology employed to create the parade’s visual and auditory effects.
A significant reveal from the episode is the introduction of Whimsy, a character specifically created for “Disney Starlight.” Whimsy, depicted as a child-like, whimsical train engine composed of starlight, is intended to embody the parade’s themes of wonder and dreams. Inspired by vintage animation, Whimsy will lead the grand finale float, which will also feature numerous iconic Disney characters.
“Disney Starlight” promises to be an enchanting journey, beginning with the Blue Fairy’s magic wand lighting up the night. The parade will feature an impressive lineup of beloved characters, including:
- The Blue Fairy
- Peter Pan & Wendy
- Asha
- La Familia Madrigal (Mirabel, Isabela, Bruno)
- Elsa
- Aurora and Prince Phillip, Tiana and Prince Naveen, Belle and the Beast, and Cinderella and Prince Charming
- Miguel and Pepita
- Moana
- Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck, Snow White and Dopey, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, Aladdin and Jasmine, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
The “Disney Starlight” parade will run nightly at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., commencing on Main Street, U.S.A., and traveling along the parade route towards Frontierland. This revised route aims to improve guest flow at the end of the evening. Guests should note that “Disney Starlight” will not be presented on evenings when Magic Kingdom hosts “Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.” As an outdoor event, the parade’s performance is also subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
