What time, who’s on the Disney Christmas Day Parade special

The lineup for the second of the two Disney holiday specials – Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade – is coming and in many ways it looks like the first. And it is since Disney tapes the two specials at the same time. The big difference is the showing of the Christmas parade.

“Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade” returns Christmas morning with its annual parade, endearing stories, and magical performances from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida; Disneyland Resort in California; Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko’Olina, Hawaiʻi; and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas.

Filming for the holiday special took place primarily on Nov. 9 and 10 at Walt Disney World.

What is the history of the Disney Christmas Day Parade?

In 1962, Disneyland Park made history by bringing the magic of the holiday season to television viewers nationwide. Walt Disney himself hosted the inaugural holiday parade from the park, broadcasting it as a special episode of his beloved “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” series on the NBC network. Titled “Holiday Time at Disneyland,” the broadcast marked a significant milestone, introducing television audiences to the enchanting spectacle of the park’s festive decorations and vibrant parades.

The current show began in 1983 when it was called the “Very Merry Christmas Parade” on the ABC network. Joan Lunden cohosted the parade with Mike Douglas.

Who has hosted the special the most?

There are many people who have hosted the parade numerous times. This year will be Julianne Hough’s 7th time hosting, surpassing Ryan Seacrest, who has hosted for 6 years.

Kelly Ripa has hosted 9 times and Joan Lunden, who kicked off the tradition hosted 13 times.

But the host with the most shows is Regis Philbin who hosted 19 of these shows. He appeared in 20, but the first time was an interviewer and not a host. He appeared 11 times with Lunden and 8 times with Ripa.
