How the MagicBand+ interacts with the Fab 50 Golden Statues
Now that you have your MagicBand+ all charged, set up and ready to go, it’s time to head out to the parks for some fun. And some of the most fun is using the MagicBand+ to interact with the Fab 50 statues located around all four theme parks at Walt Disney World.
The majority of the statues are located at Magic Kingdom and that will be the one place where you will be able to go around, at a fast clip, to see and interact with the statues. Using the MagicBand+ you will be able to locate the 36 sculptures featuring one or two Disney, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars characters.
If you want help keeping track, you can venture on the Disney Fab 50 Quest on the Play Disney Parks app. When you collect all 50 characters you will be able to unlock doorways into augmented reality worlds featuring some Disney characters.
It’s easy (if your Play Disney Parks app is working properly, there have been a number of problems reported about use of the app, including that it did not work well for me) and this is how to load the quest. Every time you waive at a character it will collect the character in the app.
To activate the statue you need to waive as you would to a friend. Don’t turn the MagicBand+ toward the statue, there is no need to do “Mickey to Mickey.”
The various statues will respond differently. Some will play music and some will respond with dialogue. Mickey Mouse will say “I’ve been just thinking about you. Good to see you pal,” while Pinocchio will talk about never telling a lie and the Mad Hatter will welcome you. Many others have music playing in the background. Below is sample from Magic Kingdom.
