Coming to Disneyland in July 2022: Pirates, pool parties, underwater fun

July brings the return of two fan-favorite attractions at Disneyland that have been out of commission for a while, a new pool party at resort hotels and special holiday fireworks .Here’s a look at five big things to look for at Disineyland in July 2022:

Pirates return – July 1

Pirates of the Caribbean reopens at Disneyland on July 1 after a three and a half month refurbishment. The attraction closed on March 14 just a few days before it was to celebrate its 55th anniversary. It is unknown if this was more than just a normal refurbishment. When the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction opened in Disneyland on March 18, 1967, it was touted as an immersive experience putting you in the “thick of the action.”

Pool parties – July 1

New summer pool parties are coming to the Disneyland Resort Hotels from July 1 through Aug. 31. For a half-hour daily at all three Disneyland Resort Hotels the Disney poolside squad will be on deck to lead games like the water sponge relay and a fun floaty toss, and play high-energy music for dancing. Disney pals will also stop by the pool.

Special Fireworks – July 4

The Fourth of July special fireworks – Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky – will take place at Disneyland at 9:30 p.m. Salute the stars and stripes with an inspirational fireworks show—all to the sound of patriotic music.

Space Mountain reopens – July 5

In honor of May the 4th and Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite, Space Mountain was turned into Hyperspace Mountain. The attraction is now closed as it is being transformed back to Space Mountain and will reopen July 5.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage reopens – July 25

The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland will reopen on July 25, 2022, after a major renovation. It is the first time the attraction will have reopened since the park closed in 2020 for the pandemic

The lagoon where the attraction is located is not normally drained so the closing allowed for major work to take place with the teams across Walt Disney Imagineering, Disneyland Resort and Pixar Animation Studios. This includes revitalizing the attraction with more coral, new paint, fresh kelp and seaweed, as well as enhanced special effects and lighting.
