2023 Disney World marathon is going 90’s retro for 30 years of racing

Disney is planning on doing something special for the 30th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. It’s going back in time.

During marathon weekend, participants will get a 90’s retro vibe with iconic characters and a glimpse into the runDisney of years past, runDisney announced on its website.

The first marathon took place on Jan. 16, 1994, and featured just 5,588 runners. The field has nearly tripled. Back then it was called the Disney Endurance Series, which is now runDisney.

The marathon weekend, which will be held on Jan. 4-8, 2023, and includes the 5K, 10K, Half-Marathon and Marathon events as well as the Goofy and Dopey Challenges and a Virtual Run series.

Walt Disney World 5K

The event takes place January 5, 2023, at 5 a.m.

Club runDisney Gold and Platinum Registration begins April 12, 2022, at 10 a.m. EST

General Registration opens April 19, 2022, at 10 a.m. EST. Registration fee varies based on the date of purchase:

• April 19 through September 19, 2022: $103.40
• September 20 through December 29, 2022: $114.06

Walt Disney World 10K

The event takes place January 6, 2023 at 5 a.m.

Club runDisney Gold and Platinum Registration begins April 12, 2022, at 10 a.m., EST

General Registration opens April 19, 2022, at 10 a.m.EST. Registration fee varies based on the date of purchase:

• April 19 through September 19, 2022: $146.04
• September 20 through December 29, 2022: $156.70

Walt Disney World Half Marathon

The event takes place January 7, 2023 at 5 a.m.
