9 big things, refurbishments at Disneyland in March 2022
A major land refurbishment gets underway, a wine festival begins and a special Villains Nite takes place at the Disneyland Resort this March.
Here’s a quick look at what’s happening this month:
1. Mickey’s Toontown closes for a major change. Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland will close down starting on March 9, 2022, to undergo a massive transformation that will include a new look, new experiences and more play and interactivity with a focus on families and young children. The area is expected to reopen in early 2023 with the new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction. The reimagined area will keep Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House.
2. Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival: Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival returns in 2022 with its unique “tour” of California regions and neighborhoods, from March 4-April 26, 2022. A dozen festival marketplaces will offer bites and beverages. Complimentary culinary demonstrations with visiting, local, celebrity and Disney chefs will return for park guests on Saturdays and Sundays during the festival.
3. Disneyland After Dark: Villains Nite returns. Disneyland After Dark returns in March for special Villains Nite for two nights on March 8 and March 10. At Villains Nite, you’ll get to party with some of Disney’s most mischievous misfits at Disney California Adventure park. Here’s what is happening during the events.
- The Cauldron, a cunningly-crafted cabaret featuring a cast of villainous virtuosos showing off their talents through song and dance
- Ursula’s Seaside Sing-a-long, where you can find your voice and sing along
- The Underworld Dance Party, which allows you to bust a move at a dastardly DJ dance party in the Hollywood Backlot
- Special photo backdrops, featuring scenes inspired by some favorite villains
- Some of Disney’s famously nefarious fiends – or their henchmen – at special locations around the park
- Delightfully decadent food and beverage offerings
4. Indiana Jones Adventure refurbishment. The Indiana Jones Adventure attraction and Disneyland will be closed starting March 8, 2022, for a few days for some refurbishment work. The ride is expected to reopen on March 12.
5. Pirates of the Caribbean refurbishment. Pirates of the Caribbean at DIsneyland, which will be celebrating its 55th anniversary this year, will be closed starting March 14. No reopening date has yet been announced,
6. Matterhorn Bobsleds reopen. The Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland, which closed for refurbishment on Feb. 28 will reopen on March 5.
7. Disneyland Monorail reopens. The Disneyland Monorail that closed for refurbishment on Jan. 24 will reopen on March 7.
8. Splash Mountain reopens. After a nearly two-month refurbishment, Splash Mountain reopens on March 8.
9. The Little Mermaid- Ariel’s Undersea Adventure reopens. The Little Mermaid- Ariel’s Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure that closed for refurbishment on Feb. 28 will reopen on March 4.
