Disney’s DuckTales reboot has a premiere date

It’s almost time to set your DVRs, DuckTales fans.

The reboot of Disney’s 1980s classic cartoon will premiere with a one-hour TV movie Saturday, Aug. 12, on Disney XD. And don’t worry if you miss it — the movie will play for 24 consecutive hours, beginning at midnight. The weekly series will debut Sept. 23, the 30th anniversary of the original series.

To coincide with announcing the premiere date, Disney released the show’s title sequence and theme song, which you can watch below.

The new DuckTales is going to be an all-star affair. The cast includes Doctor Who’s David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck. Voicing his nephews: Danny Pudi (“Community”) as Huey, Ben Schwartz (“Parks and Recreation”) as Dewey, and Bobby Moynihan (“Saturday Night Live”) as Louie. And, in our favorite bit of casting news, Moana lyricist (and self-proclaimed lifelong DuckTales aficionado) Lin-Manuel Miranda as Gizmoduck, a Duckburg hero whose true identity is Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, a brilliant young intern working for Scrooge McDuck’s personal mad scientist, Gyro Gearloose

There is also a flock of recurring guest stars. Among our favorites: Allison Janney (“The West Wing”) as Scrooge’s old flame Goldie O’Gilt, Margo Martindale (“The Americans”) as the ruthless villain Ma Beagle, and Jim Rash (“Community”) as mad scientist Gyro Gearloose.

This is just the beginning of a tidal wave of DuckTales tie-ins, including an appearance by the “original angry bird,” Donald Duck, in the Angry Birds digital game (starting Aug. 3)

Check out the opening title sequence, and bask in how familiar the title track sounds:
