Tomorrowland PeopleMover scheduled to reopen this weekend

After being closed for more than year, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom will reopen this weekend, Jeff Vahle, the President of Walt Disney World Resort, announced on his Instagram account.

“On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, I stopped by to check in with the Engineering team overseeing the refurbishment of previously called the “WEDway PeopleMover” when I first rode it as a teenager. Thrilled that this team has it ready to delight a new generation when it reopens later this weekend!” he wrote.

It is unknown if this means Saturday or Sunday, so keep checking the official Disney site.

The attraction is getting a major upgrade of new sensors to prevent ride vehicles from slamming into each other, according to BlogMickey.com.

The 10minute ride, which takes you on a tour of Tomorrowland, is a fan favorite. It provides a nice respite and also great views of construction of the new TRON Lightcycle/Run attraction coming to the Magic Kingdom.
