‘Festival of the Lion King’ show at Animal Kingdom returning this summer

Walt Disney World is planning to bring back the popular “Festival of the Lion King” show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom sometime this summer, Disney announced this afternoon.

The show will be presented in a modified format to be mindful of the current environment. There will be adjustments to the show on stage and backstage, including updates to choreography to allow for appropriate physical distancing. The audience seating will also be adjusted.

The musical review features singers, dancers, acrobats, stilt-walkers and more gathering for a grand gala in honor of Simba.

During the Broadway-style show the audience hears classic songs including “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” and the “Circle of Life.”

When Disney World reopened last July they cut back on entertainment and has slowly been adding back attractions during this COVID-19 pandemic era. “With cavalcades and flotillas continuing to delight guests daily, we are now turning our attention to bringing back even more entertainment with a responsible and thoughtful approach,” according to a post on the Disney Parks Blog.
