PHOTOS: Model of Star Wars land unveiled at D23 Expo 2017
Disney has unveiled the model of the Star Wars-themed land that is going to Disneyland and Disney World.
The unveiling took place during a press preview at D23 Expo 2017 in Anaheim, California where Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek presented the model which depicts the two major attractions that will anchor the 14-acre Star Wars land in both parks.
“To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement,” Chapek said. “All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”
The model, on display at the Disney Parks pavilion at the D23 Expo 2017, allows people to see close-up what is to come and what this never-before-seen planet which is the base of operations looks like.
The pavilion also contains models, artwork and media about this new planet.
One of the attractions being constructed will offer guests the ability to pilot the Millennium Falcon on a secret mission. The other will put guests right in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
