Disneyland cancels annual Candelight Processional event
Disneyland has officially canceled the annual Candlelight Procession and Ceremony that has been taking place at the theme park since the 1950s, according to a report in the Orange County Register.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are both currently still closed due to the coronavirus, but there are expectations that they soon might be allowed to reopen.
The Candlelight Processional was canceled because Disneyland could not commit to the planning process without knowing when the theme parks would be allowed to reopen by state, Disney officials told the newspaper.
The Candlelight Ceremony and Processional has been a Disneyland Resort tradition since 1958 and has featured stars such as Cary Grant, John Wayne, Dick Van Dyke. It started with singers from 16 choirs walking down Main Street to the Plaza where they performed a full concert, according to D23.com.
Walt Disney World has already canceled its Candlelight Processional at Epcot, in addition to the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.
