Date announced for Mission: SPACE to reopen at Epcot with lower height restriction for kids
The revamped Mission: SPACE at Epcot will reopen Aug 13, 2017 with new missions and lower height restrictions for kids.
The new adventures were unveiled earlier this month at D23 Expo 2017 in Anaheim, Calif.
Originally, the attraction opened as a trip to Mars simulating a takeoff and landing. The ride has a centrifugal motion simulator, but the ride was too severe for many, so it was then divided into an Orange Mission (the more intense) and the Green Mission (the less intense).
The revamped Orange Mission is still an intense ride to Mars, where you dodge meteoroids and slingshot around the moon, but it has been enhanced with and HD video.
The new Green Mission is more family-friendly and takes guests on an orbit around the Earth and then landing at Kennedy Space Center.
The opening of the ride is taking place the same day Ellen’s Energy Adventure will close to be reworked into a new Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
