Virtual queue system activated for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge a Disney World
It didn’t take long for the crowds to descend upon Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge today for the 6 a.m. opening and for Disney World to activate the virtual queue system.
Crowds started showing up as early as 3 a.m. outside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As crowds entered into the land the wait time for the only ride open in the land, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, jumped to 300 minutes wait time. The FastPass system has not been activated for the attraction.
As the land quickly came to capacity the new virtual queue system was activated.
The virtual queue is accessed through the My Disney Experience app. Once you enter the park you can launch the app and look for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Status and Access, select Find Out More. The app will then tell you whether the land is open and you can go in or will tell you to join a boarding group. There will also be digital signage alerting you if you need to join a boarding group.
The boarding group will save you a virtual spot in line. You can only use the app to request to be part of a boarding group after entering Hollywood Studios. You will need to link the theme park tickets of everyone in your party together on the app to request the same boarding group for your entire party. To see which boarding group is currently being admitted to the land, look on the app or digital signage in the park.
Once your boarding party number is called you have 2 hours to enter the land.
If you have a reservation for Oga’s Cantina, Savi’s Workshop, or the Droid Depot you can show up to the Grand Avenue entrance 1 hour before your reservation and enter into the land.
