‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ brings $201M in international box office
The “Avengers: Age of Ultron” opened in 44 countries around the world this past weekend with a box office opening of $201.2 million, according to Rentrak.
The top fiver markets were South Korea ($28.2 million), the UK and Ireland ($27.3 million), Russia ($16.2 million), Brazil ($13.1 million), and Australia ($13.1 million), according to boxofficemojo.com.
“The global movie marketplace is on fire as Disney/Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ kicks off its monumental run as the top movie in the world this weekend with $201.2 million & placing first in all of the 44 territories in which it played,” Rentrak’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian said in a new release.
The movie opens in the U.S. on May 1 and is scheduled to open in 34 countries between April 29 and May 1.
The original “Avengers” made $1.518 billion and is No. 3 on the all-time box office list. The 2012 movie made $623.5 million in the U.S. and holds numerous box office records. Internationally, the original movie made $895.2 million.
