UPDATED: Center of Hurricane Irma could pass near Disney World
The core of Hurricane Irma is now forecast to come through Central Florida near Walt Disney World, according to meteorologists.
WESH2 meteorologists say the core of the storm is now forecast to go over the Lake and Orange county lines. This would have it pass over the four corners area as well, where Orange, Osceola, Polk and Lake counties meet.
That path would take it near Disney World. Whether the path goes in this direction or not, the core of the storm will present the strongest winds, according to Tony Mainolfi, chief meteorologist for WESH 2.
The National Weather Service out of Melbourne has confirmed the storm’s center will be taking this path. Again, the exact path could still change slightly.
Irma is now going north at 14 mph with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph.
