Disney handing out Avatar Flight of Passage safety cards to those in line
Disney World is starting to hand out safety cards to guests before they ride Avatar Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom.
When you get in line you are handed a card (see below) which contains basic information that the ride is immersive, you will be restrained in a ride vehicle and if you are fearful of heights or prone to motion sickness you should not ride.
In addition, it warns you that there are no restrooms in line and the entire party should remain together.
The card is similar to the one handed out at Mission:Space in Epcot before boarding. The card is then returned to a cast member when you are about to ride the ride.
Disney has not said why they have started handing out the cards. However, it is not difficult to deduce that it is for legal and safety reasons.
According to state records, four safety incidents were reported to the state by Disney in 2017 concerning the ride:
On June 12, 2017, a 71-year-old female guest with pre-existing conditions became ill on the ride.
On June 24, 2017, a 31-year-old female guest felt dizzy, ill and briefly lost consciousness on the ride.
On Nov. 14, 2017, a 56-year-old female guest with pre-existing conditions temporarily passed out on the ride.
Oct. 27, 2017, a 71-year-old female guest fell while boarding the ride.
