Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge planet revealed, featured in Star Tours

The planet that guests will visit when the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land opens at both Disneyland and Disney World is getting a starring role in a new Star Tours-The Adventures Continue segment.

The segment unveiled today at both Disneyland and Disney World highlights the planet known as Batuu.

This planet is a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge (see photo below) that was once a busy crossroads but changed with the rise of hyperspace travel.

“Now home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe haven for those intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order,” Scott Trowbridge,  Portfolio Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering, writes on the Disney Parks Blog.

Other changes are taking place today (Nov. 17, 2017) to Star Tours. Another new segment features the planet of Crait that is featured in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie. It also features Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron.

The new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands will open in 2019 in both parks. It is scheduled top open first at Disneyland, followed by Disney World.

The 14-acre lands will take guests to Batuu where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life. Guests will also find themselves in the middle of the action. Two major attractions anchoring the new land. One ride willed you fly the Millennium Falcon and in the other you are placed in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

Welcome to Batuu, this is the new planet where the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land will be located at Disneyland and Disney World.
