Orlando International Airport sees traffic continue to rise of Memorial Day

If you plan on flying in our out of Orlando for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, be prepared to spend part of your time with nearly 800,000 other passengers at Orlando International Airport (MCO).

This represents an 11% increase over Memorial Day 2021 and is only 10,000 departures short of 2019 pre pandemic levels.

“Traditionally, Memorial Day has not been the busiest travel period at Orlando International, however, we are staffing up and are prepared for more passengers this year than usual,” Kevin Thibault, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said in a news release. “If you are planning to travel, please give yourself plenty of extra time to navigate through the parking, check-in and security processes.”

The airport authority is offering the following travel tips:

  • Travelers should arrive inside the airport terminal at least two hours prior to flight departure time.
  • Parking at current terminals will be challenging, so parking in the new Terminal C garage is suggested.
  • Pack as lightly as possible.
  • Check your carry-on baggage for any weapons or firearms before entering the terminal.
  • Remove medications from checked baggage.
  • Screenshot your boarding pass to avoid the possibility of losing the paper pass.
