Liberty Square Riverboat scheduled to reopen Feb. 5 at Magic Kingdom

After closing for a few months for refurbishment, the Liberty Square Riverboat is scheduled to reopen on Friday, Feb. 5, according to the Walt Disney World site.

Refurbishment will continue on Tom Sawyer Island and that will remain closed, the Disney site stated.

The refurbishment including draining the Rivers of America and replacing the guide rail the large riverboat sits atop as it takes its journey around the waterway. The water started to be added back to the attraction last week and it is about completely filled.

Meanwhile, work is taking place on Tom Sawyer Island, it is unknown what specifically is taking place, but we do know that the windmill is receiving a new paint job. Other than that, Disney has given no indication what changes are taking place. There also, was no indication if any changes were taking place around the river.

The 47-foot tall Liberty Belle, a working reproduction of the historic vessels that ferried people up and down the mighty Mississippi, takes guests on a 17-minute ride around Tom Sawyer Island where you pass, an early American settlement, a Native American village, Harper’s Mill, Fort Langhorn and Wilson’s Cave Inn.
