Disney 100 merchandise available online starting Dec. 12

Disney is celebrating the 100th anniversary in 2023, but the Disney 100 Celebration merchandise will start to be available on Monday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at 11 a.m. ET and 7 a.m. PT, on shopDisney.

Disney will kick off its 100th-anniversary celebration during New Year’s Rockin broadcast on ABC (which Disney owns).

Disney is calling the celebration 100 Years of Wonder. The new Disney100.com website will go love on Jan. 1, 2023 and will highlight the past, the present, and the future of The Walt Disney Company—and chronicle the yearlong celebration.

The Walt Disney World Company started with Walt and his brother Roy Disney, on Oct 16, 1923, when Walt signed a contract with M. J. Winkler to produce a series of Alice Comedies. The date is used as the start of the Disney company, first known as “The Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio.”

In January 1926, the name of the company is changed from “The Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio” to the “Walt Disney Studio.” On Dec. 16, 1929, the partnership is replaced by four Disney companies: Walt Disney Productions, Ltd.; Walt Disney Enterprises; Liled Realty and Investment Company; and the Disney Film Recording Company.

In 1938, all four companies then merge back to form Walt Disney Productions. In 1940, Walt Disney Productions becomes a publicly traded company. In 1986, the name is officially changed to the Walt Disney Company.
