BREAKING: Face masks at Disney World will be optional starting Feb. 17

The Walt Disney World Resort will again make face coverings optional for fully vaccinated guests in both outdoor and indoor locations, start Feb. 17, 2022, according to the resort’s website.

“We expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters. Face coverings will still be required by all Guests (ages 2 and up) on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner.”

Until then, through Feb. 16, “Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) in all indoor locations, regardless of vaccination status. This includes upon entering and throughout all indoor attractions and indoor queues and in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are optional for Guests in outdoor areas.”

This change means that those who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear face coverings inside attractions, restaurants, or at resort hotels. But, if you are going to go on the bus, monorail, Skyliner or any other transportation you will need to wear a face covering.

This latest change comes after Universal Studios did away with its face mask requirement for all on Feb. 12, 2022.

It also comes in time for the opening of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser in March. While you will not need to wear a face-covering while on the Halcyon, you will need to wear a face mask when on the shuttle transport from the Starcruiser to Batuu at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
