7 big things to watch for at Disney World in March 2022

March 2022 at Walt Disney World brings the launch of a new starcruiser hotel, the return of Magic Kingdom’s parade, some moonlight magic, and flowers – lots and lots of flowers – with the start of another festival.

Here’s a look at seven things coming in March:

1. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opens March 1 — The first paying customers launch into a new vacation experience when Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser debuts. Guests become the heroes of their own Star Wars stories during a two-night adventure aboard the Halcyon starcruiser. Throughout the voyage, guests’ choices determine their personal stories as they interact with characters, crew and other passengers, becoming part of the action in their own Star Wars story.

2. EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival begins March 2 — The festival, which features Disney character topiaries, flower towers, colorful gardens, special food, special merchandise and the return of the Garden Rocks Concert Series will run from March 2 through July 4.

A new main entrance topiary will feature Goofy and a 50th-theme birthday to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Other character topiaries will include Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Germany pavilion or Lumiere and Cogsworth welcoming you to the recently expanded France pavilion, according to Disney.

3. Festival of Fantasy Parade Returns to Magic Kingdom on March 9 — For the first four weeks of the parade’s return, it will be shown twice a day. The 26 foot-tall, 35-foot long fire-breathing Maleficent Dragon float returns with all the beloved characters from “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled,” “Peter Pan” and more. Traditionally, the parade has been held at 3 p.m. only, kicking off in Frontierland and ending near the park entrance.

4. Mighty Festival for St. Patrick’s Day, March 11-17 — There is no better place to celebrate St. Patrick’s week than Raglan Road at Disney Springs. Award-winning imported Irish bands and the Raglan Road Irish Dancers perform during the festival. The lineup and schedule can be found here.

5. Moonlight Magic returns March 17 and 31 — Disney Vacation Club is bringing back Moonlight Magic nights this year. This special after-hour access is exclusively for DVC members and will be available at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom on select nights. The nights have shorter-than-usual wait times for select park attractions, Disney Character sightings, entertainment and complimentary treats and drinks. This month, Moonlight Magic is happening at EPCOT on March 17 and March 31.

6. Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort reopens on March 31 — When Disney’s All-Star Resort reopens to guests on March 31, 2022, it will mean all of the resorts and hotels on Disney World property will be operational for the first time since being shut down in 2020 due to the pandemic. The resort reopening will also mean

7. Salt & Straw anticipated opening sometime in March — The new Salt & Straw artisan ice cream company scoop shop is anticipated to open at Disney Springs on the West Side sometime in March. This will be third location in Florida for the company. It already has a location in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland. At Disney Springs, the location is next to the AMC Theaters and near Splitsville.
