Is this the best Disney groomsmen dance ever?

It’s a tale as old as time: Man and woman fall in love over Disney. Man proposes to woman at Disney World. Man does an elaborate Disney dance in front of everyone at his wedding.

When Brittany Dychtiar sat down at her wedding to watch a performance her groom had cooked up, she had no idea her new husband, Tomas, would be showing off his interpretive dance skills portraying their love through the music of Disney.

“I laughed so hard tears were running down my face. As a serious Disney fan, it was an absolute dream,” Brittany said of the seven-minute routine.

Disney has always been influential in both their lives. The Canadian couple both grew up going to Walt Disney World with their families on vacations.

The two met at a high school party. While Tomas immediately fell in love with her, he recalls that it took a couple of years for Brittany to catch up. One of the things the two bonded over was their love of Disney movies.

So it just made sense that they should visit Walt Disney World together as their relationship deepened. During five years of dating, they made three trips to Disney World.

“Britt and I love everything about Disney,” Tomas said. “We love the chance to become kids again every time we enter those parks and ride our favorite rides and eat our favorite snacks.”

It was during one of their trips that Tomas proposed to Brittany on the beach at the Grand Floridian Resort.

“I had this proposal planned for over a year,” he said. “Brittany had no idea.”

He flew his friend Jarrod Maidens and Brittany’s friend Carling Wright to Florida two days early with the ring, romantic signs and lanterns, and a plan to set the scene on a beach at the Grand Floridian.

“From there it was my job to convince Brittany that a friend I knew worked for Disney at the Polynesian and she had passes for us to go to the Disney Parks,” Tomas said. “So I had to bring Brittany through the Polynesian and through to the Grand Floridian Beach.

Carling and Jarrod had all the signs and lanterns set up, with speakers playing “Tale as Old As Time” from “Beauty and the Beast,” he said. (Jarrod and Carling earned their spots as best man and maid of honor at their friends’ wedding.)

So how do you top a proposal surprise like that?

“I knew from when we started dating Brittany loved to watch groomsmen dances, so what better surprise for your soon-to-be wife than to do a Disney-themed one to our favorite songs and movies?” Tomas said.

Tomas mixed the songs himself with all the transition clips. “From there I spent countless nights looking at and learning various choreography from these Disney movies, plus adding our own groomsmen flare to it.”

The rehearsal was complicated: Their seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen lived in different places and worked on different schedules.

To help everyone learn the choreography Tomas and his friend David Valez filmed the routine and sent it to everyone. They didn’t get a chance to practice together until the night before the June 30 wedding in Niagara on the Lake, in Ontario, Canada, after the rehearsal dinner. “And we practiced until we got it right,” Tomas said.

The routine included songs and moves from a variety of TV shows and movies, including “High School Musical” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin” and “Moana.”

“I was in complete shock. I couldn’t believe that Tomas put in so much work as was able to keep it a surprise,” Brittany said.

While the two aren’t honeymooning at Disney World, they will be back. They have two more Disney trips planned in the next two years, including a trip to Disneyland in California and a combination Disney Cruise and park vacation two years from now.
