Hurricane Ian: Disney resorts ask guests to shelter in place starting at 9 p.m.
Walt Disney World resort hotels are notifying guests via the My Disney Experience App and notices on television that they should shelter in their hotel room by 9 p.m. at Hurricane Ian approaches Orlando.
According to the notice, “At 9 p.m. tonight after you’ve eaten dinner, we strongly recommend that you shelter indoors and do not leave your building or room.”
Walt Disney World has closed its four theme parks and water parks on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 because of Hurricane Ian, but most of the resort hotels remain open to house guests.
Disney resort hotels have been offering dinner and special meal kits at quick-service locations.
As of 8 p.m., Hurricane Ian was northeast of Port Charlotte with a maximum wind of 115 mph. The center of Ian is expected to move across Central Florida, slightly east of Disney World tonight and Thursday morning. Currently, rain is pouring down on the area and winds have started to pick up in the area.
