Disney World closing Light, Motors, Action! and other areas closing in April to make way for expansion
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show and the areas around Streets of America will close April 2, 2016, at Hollywood Studios at Disney World in preparation for Star Wars and Toy Story lands, Disney announced.
In addition, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure; a Monsters Inc. meet-and-greet, and the Studio Catering Co. restaurant will also close.
Muppet*Vision 3D is safe, according to the Disney Parks Blog, at least for now. Nearby Pizza Planet has closed for major refurbishment.
The iconic “Earffel Tower” on the backlot will also close.
This 11-acre Toy Story Land area will “shrink” guests and take them to Andy’s backyard where people will be able to ride a new roller coaster and a flying saucer ride. The coaster is themed as Slinky Dog. The second ride includes our favorite little green aliens (“The Claw”). Guests will be able to spin on flying saucers.
Star Wars-themed land “will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance,” Disney has previously said.
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show opened at Disney World in 2005 replacing Residential Street on the Studio Backlot Tour. The 38-minute show includes cars, motorcyles and jet skis performing stunts. The show originated at the Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris in 2002.
