Disney Reveals The Garden View Lounge Opening March 19
The long-standing tradition of afternoon tea is returning to the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa with a whimsical new identity. On March 19, the resort will officially debut The Garden View Lounge – Tea Experience, a reimagined space that fuses classic Victorian elegance with the playful spirit of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Alice in Wonderland.
The opening marks a significant milestone in the multi-year refurbishment of the flagship resort, bringing a beloved guest activity back to the heart of the property.
The redesigned lounge has been transformed into a sunlit sanctuary, resembling a grand conservatory. The architectural focal point remains the floor-to-ceiling windows, which flood the room with natural light throughout the day.

The interior design strikes a careful balance between modern luxury and the resort’s signature Victorian aesthetic. Guests will find a color palette of gentle greens, blues, and golds, accented by plush fabrics and furniture that feels both fresh and nostalgic.
Disney Imagineers have leaned heavily into organic, nature-inspired motifs to bring the “Golden Afternoon” of the classic film to life. Key design elements include:

- Petal-Inspired Mirrors: Brass frames shaped like flower petals reflect the outdoor gardens.
- Stained Glass Art: Windows featuring native Floridian birds provide a colorful local touch.
- Vining Carpetry: Ornate carpet patterns inspired by winding garden vines tie the room together, hiding subtle Disney details for eagle-eyed guests to discover.
The return of the Afternoon Tea Service includes a specialized menu featuring loose-leaf selections from Twinings. The offering is designed to be inclusive, featuring:
- Traditional Tea Service: A classic array of savory and sweet pairings.
- Plant-Based Options: A full, curated menu for guests with dietary preferences.
- Children’s Tea: A dedicated experience tailored specifically for younger guests.
The Garden View Lounge aims to serve as a lush escape from the theme parks, inviting families, couples, and solo travelers to slow down and enjoy a “Mad Tea Party” of their own. Reservations for the new experience are expected to be highly sought after as the Grand Floridian continues its transformation.
