Toy Story show coming to Diamond Horseshoe at Magic Kingdom this summer
As part of the “Cool Kids’ Summer” celebration at Magic Kingdom, a legendary Liberty Square venue is getting a Pixar-sized makeover. Disney World has announced that the Diamond Horseshoe will host a brand-new, high-energy experience: Jessie’s Roundup.
For generations, the Diamond Horseshoe has been known for its classic Western revues and vaudeville-style entertainment. This summer, that spirit lives on with a “Toy Story” twist, bringing Woody’s Roundup to life for a new generation of fans.
Jessie’s Roundup invites young “cowpokes” and their families to step out of the Florida heat and into the air-conditioned comfort of this historic music hall. The experience is designed to be interactive, moving away from a traditional “sit-and-watch” show to a fully immersive western party.
This includes:
Western crafts: Creative stations will be set up where kids can craft their own “Roundup” souvenirs to take home.
Interactive entertainment: Join Jessie, Woody, and friends for a series of high-energy moments.
Dance & Yodel: Learn the steps to classic western dances and practice your best yodel under the guidance of the Yodeling Cowgirl herself.
When Magic Kingdom opened on Oct. 1, 1971, the Diamond Horseshoe Revue was a premiere attraction. It was a direct sibling to Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe Revue, which Walt Disney himself loved so much he kept a private box there.
The show ran from 1971 to 1986 featuring Slue Foot Sue (the brassy owner), an Irish Tenor, and the Diamond Horseshoe Girls performing high-energy can-can dances. By the time this original format closed in 1986, it was recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records as one of the longest-running stage shows in history.
In the late 80s and 90s, the venue evolved into more interactive, vaudeville-style entertainment. with a the Diamond Horseshoe Jamboree show from 1986 to 1995 and the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon Revue from 1995 to 2003 and a Goofy’s Country Dancin’ Jamboree in 2003 and 2004.
