James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” is becoming the fourth biggest fim of all time globally, closing in on $2.2 billion in box office earnings. “The global popularity of this film will result in the creation of more opportunities for fans to engage with the franchise,” Iger said during the earnings call.
Fans have been engaging with it at Disney World’s Pandora – The World of Avatar, a well as in theaters globally and on Disney Plus where the first film can be seen.
“Today, I am thrilled to announce that we will be bringing an exciting Avatar experience to Disneyland. We will be sharing more details on that very soon,” he said.
Iger said that the way for Disney to remain financially strong is to lean into its universal brand franchises and in doing that, he also announced that “we have sequels in the works from our animation studios from some of our most popular franchises – “Toy Story”, “Frozen,” and “Zootopia.” More about these productions will be announced soon, he said.
