Celebrating Halloween at Downtown Disney, inside Disneyland hotels
The Disneyland Resort has kicked off its Halloween celebration in the parks and now Downtown Disney District and the hotels are joining in on the fun.
Here’s a look at some of the things to do:
Hunt for pumpkins
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit returns to the Downtown Disney District. You can purchase a map and stickers at select Disney merchandise locations such as World of Disney or at Disneyland Resort Hotel gift shops, and search for 13 hand-painted pumpkins hidden throughout the district, each inspired by a different Disney character. Whether you choose to hunt for pumpkins or not, return your map to redeem one of four mini pumpkin pails.
While searching for pumpkins, you’ll also see Downtown Disney’s beautiful flower beds. More than 5,000 plants across 14 planters have been filled with rich autumnal colors of russet red and harvest orange.
Spine-tingling songs
The SCAREolers a cappella group, six of the 999 Happy Haunts, sings Halloween songs from “I Put a Spell on You” to tributes to your favorite Disney Villains. They will perform Friday through Sunday evenings, Sept. 30 through Oct. 31, 2022, before they return to their crypt. Halloween carolers can also be heard roaming on select afternoons in October at the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
Hocus Pocus 2 Picture Spot
If you’re visiting Downtown Disney District between Sept. 20 and Oct. 31, 2022, look for a special photo opportunity celebrating the upcoming Disney+ Original movie, “Hocus Pocus 2,” streaming Sept. 30, exclusively on Disney+. This photo op will be located between Splitsville and Tortilla Jo’s.
Oogie Boogie Delight
Oogie Boogie takes center stage in the lobby of the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa where the annual confectionery masterpiece from the pastry shop is made with these ingredients:
- 160 pounds of powdered sugar
- 180 eggs
- 110 pounds of rice cereal
- 95 pounds of marshmallow
- 80 pounds of butter
- 120 pounds of dark chocolate
- 80 pounds of white chocolate
- 480 pounds of fondant
- 370 hours of planning and hands-on work
- 13 hidden Mickeys
Hotel Guest Activities
There are a number of special activities available for guests, including watching a pumpkin carver etch works of art on real pumpkins at each of the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort during the last week of October.
If you’re an overnight guest of the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort, you’re invited to enjoy exclusive, complimentary trick-or-treating, from Oct. 28-31, 2022. Each hotel will have a treat map of locations, so little ghosts and goblins (and their parents) can visit all three hotels. Hotel guests are encouraged to sign up at any Disneyland Resort Hotel Front Desk. On Halloween night, Oct. 31, take part in a costume contest and movie night on the Adventure Lawn at the Disneyland Hotel. Visit the Front Desk for the latest hotel activities guide.
