Disney World debuting Disney MagicMobile as an alternative to MagicBands

Walt Disney World will soon be debuting a new option for theme park entry and other uses. Instead of using the MagicBand, you will soon be able to to use the Disney MagicMobile service on your smart device.

The Disney MagicMobile service is contactless way to access MagicBand features through the power of your iPhone, Apple Watch or other smart device. This will be launching in phases later this year.

You will be able to create a Disney MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to your smart device’s digital wallet. Most features will be available by just holding up your smart device near an access point, just like you do with a MagicBand. Disney MagicMobile service and its features will roll out first on Apple devices.

You can still use your MagicBand and alternate between the two at anytime.

While Disney earlier this year stopped providing MagicBands for free to those staying at guest resorts, the MagicBands will remain. Disney said it will soon be even introducing more MagicBands in new colors and designs featuring favorite Disney characters and stories.

The existing digital room key feature will continue to be available specifically within the My Disney Experience app. This helps guests expedite their arrival by using online check-in service and going directly to their Disney Resort hotel room and using their phone to unlock their door.
