Changes coming to Disney World golf courses
The huge number of changes and enhancements at Walt Disney World are not just for theme parks and resorts. The golf courses around Disney World are also having some work done on them.
There are 54 holes of challenging golf on three 18-hole championship courses — Lake Buena Vista, Magnolia and Palm Golf courses — and a 9-hole family-play course at Oak Trail.
Here’s a look at some of the changes taking place, according to the Disney Parks Blog.
The Palm course is currently undergoing its regular aeration process. It will re-open June 18.
Mickey-shaped bunker will be added to to Lake Buena Vista and all of the bunkers at the will be enhanced to include new powdery white sand. Work begins June 18 and should be finished in mid-August.
A Mickey-shaped bunker will be added to the Oak Trail cours with work starting June 25 and finished by mid-August.
At Oak Trail, the greens are being restored to their original size and totally resurfaced utilizing paspalum grass for the first time ever on a Disney putting green.
There will be special discounted rates at Lake Buena Vist and Oak Trail in addition to regular rates at the Magnolia and Palm courses, which are open for play all summer, along with FootGolf, the hybrid soccer and golf game recently added to Oak Trail.
