Disney World ends Night of Joy concert series

Night of Joy is no more Walt Disney World.

The Christian-music concert series which has been a staple at the Walt Disney World Resort for the past 35 years has been canceled and there are no plans for it to return, a Disney World spokeswoman confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel.

The spokeswoman said last year’s event was the last one. The reason for the cancellation involves the resort’s philosophy of  “continually changing our offerings,” the spokeswoman told the news organization.

The Night of Joy started in 1983 and was held at the Magic Kingdom until 2008 with it was moved to Hollywood Studios. It returned to the Magic Kingdom from 2010 until 2016 when it was held at the  ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Some of the artists who have appeared at the Night of Joy will be appearing at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series during the 2018 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

  1. I used to go to Rock The Universe one year and Night of Joy the next year. Now I’ll go to Rock The Universe every year, and I’ll buy a season pass at Universal Studios. No more Disney for my son, wife, grandson, and myself.
