Disney World introducing digital key for resorts on My Disney Experience app
Guests will soon be able to unlock their hotel doors at Disney World with a digital key on their mobile device as well as using a MagicBand.
The new feature is being added to the My Disney Experience app. This will first be rolled out to the Wilderness Lodge where guests will be able to unlock their hotel room with the digital key. This will also unlock the hotel entrance gate and common area doors requiring a key, which may include pools, fitness centers, elevators and club level lounges.
Guests will be able to bypass the front desk and after checking in online head directly to their room once they have the room number.
The digital key is not replacing the MagicBand. Guests will still be able to use that device.
The works the same as many of the other digital key technologies in use by other hotel chains. First, you need to activate the feature on the My Disney Experience app. To get into the room, guests will tap the “Unlock Door” button and then hold the phone against the door lock.
Only Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices with the latest version of the My Disney Experience app will work for the digital key entry.
What do you think of this latest advancement? Is this something you would use?
