Disney World increases snack, character meal, buffet prices

In addition to the festive atmosphere with Halloween celebrations, October at Disney World is known as the time of year for snack and menu item prices to increase throughout the resort.

The October price hikes, which align with the beginning of the company’s fiscal year on Oct. 1, are widespread, from 25 cents for a Dasani bottle of water to $1.25 for a souvenir popcorn bucket.

So when you head to the snack cart, you will experience these price increases:

  • Fountain Drinks: $4.79, up from $4.49
  • Bottled Coke Products: $5.50, up from $5.25
  • Dasani: $4, up from $3.75
  • Mickey Pretzel: $8.50, up from $8.25
  • Popcorn: $6, up from $5.50
  • Souvenir Bucket: $14.25, up from $13

Since 2017, some snack prices have increased by as much as 45.5%. As you can see from the chart below, during the past seven years, the popular Mickey Pretzel increased from $6 in 2017 to $8.50 in 2024, a 41.6% increase. For those who like soda, you’re seeing the largest increase of 45.5%, a $1.50 increase from 2017 to 2024 for soda fountain drinks and another $1.50 increase for bottled soda for the same time period.

Prices have risen significantly faster than inflation. For instance, a soda fountain drink that cost $3.29 in 2017 should cost $4.27, but is 52 cents more. It could be worse. According to the St. Louis Federal Reserve, which keeps track of the prices for products, the average price of a 12-ounce can of soda sold in a 12-pack cost 31.6 cents in April 2018 and skyrocketed to 61.9 cents in September 2024. That’s an increase of 96%.

Here’s a look at the snack price increases over the years.
