Baby news: New hippo born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is welcoming a new resident, a Nile hippopotamus calf.
The baby was born early on Monday, July 12 and became visible when it popped up for is first photo, according to Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment division.
“The animal care experts are giving the calf plant of room to bond and nurse with mom,” the division reported on Facebook. It also promises some more information and photos soon.
The last baby hippo born at Animal Kingdom was on Jan. 13, 2018. Augustus was the first Nile hippopotamus in 13 years born at the theme park at the time.
