Disney introduces new messaging app for kids

Disney has always prided itself on providing family entertainment, now it is getting into the family messaging business with a new app designed for kids and tweens.

Disney Mix is designed to merge chat and play, according to Disney InteractiveAnd we’ve innovated on the messenger interface so that kids can play with their friends while not missing out on the conversation. Kids can play games, make funny memes, and share stickers,” the website touts.

This is a different twist on messaging apps, such as Snapchat and Facebook Messenger. Disney is trying to integrate play and create online communities with a messaging app.

Now, Disney has experience running a virtual world for kids with Club Penguin, a virtual world where kids can play games and interact.

Like Club Penguin, Disney Mix will have a set of community rules to report inappropriate behavior, such as bullying, and can ban users.
