Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening dates announced for Disneyland, Disney World
The new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening up in two phases at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios in Disney World, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger during the Walt Disney Co.’s annual shareholder meeting.
The first phase of the new Star Wars land will open May 31, 2019, in Disneyland and then Aug. 29, 2019, in Disney World.
On opening day for phase one, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will open along with food and beverage areas and merchant shops.
Phase two will open later this with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, “the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined that will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance and will blur the lines between fantasy and reality,” according to Disney.
There has been a lot of speculation as to when the lands would open. Iger had previously slipped that the opening in Disneyland will take place in June.
Iger said work is going along so fast that they wanted to open it earlier.
