Disney and McDonald’s team up again for Happy Meals

Disney and McDonald’s are once again teaming up for Happy Meals.

A decade after Disney severed ties with McDonald’s the two have agreed to a new cross-promotional deal. Neither of the executives would disclose the value or duration of the new deal.

Disney ended its relationship with McDonald’s at the time childhood obesity rates were rising and concerns were expressed over fast-food restaurant children’s meals.

Disney developed its own nutritional guidelines in 2006 to limit the number of calories, saturated fats, sugars and sodium consumed by kids and promote the consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and low-fat dairy.

In mid-February McDonald’s said it was revamping its Happy Meal menu to offer selections that were lower in calories, sodium, saturated fat, and sugar.

“McDonald’s commitment to balanced Happy Meals allows our two companies to collaborate on new ways to bring the magic of Disney to McDonald’s consumers,” Tiffany Rende, senior vice president of corporate alliances at Disney, said in a statement Tuesday.

This deal is taking place just as “Incredibles 2” and “Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet”  are being released this year.
