Disney World crews assessing Hurricane Ian storm impact, clearing debris

Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs remain closed as parts of Florida are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.

The storm, which brought 45 mph winds to the Magic Kingdom, according to the National Weather Service. Magic Kingdom also saw about 12 inches of rain during the storm.

“We are thinking of our neighbors across Florida. We will get through this together and will be there to help our cast members and community,” according to a release from Disney.

“As we keep safety in mind, our theme parks and other operating areas remain closed today while crews assess the impact of the storm and clear debris. Thank you to all of our cast members who continue to care for the thousands of guests currently staying at our Disney Resort hotels,” according to an operational note.

Disney will announce later today if the parks will reopen on Friday, Sept. 30, as expected.

Disney resort hotel guests will not be allowed to check-in today, Sept. 29. For guests with a Friday, Sept. 30 check-in, guests are asked to arrive at your resort no earlier than 3 p.m. ET. Guests who arrive before 3 p.m. will not be able to check in. Guests may reschedule their trip or cancel their stay with us; any customary cancellation fees will be waived.
