Selfie sticks have been problematic at Disney Parks for sometime, so much so that they were banned on rides, now it looks as though Disney has finally had enough.

Disney World will completely ban selfie sticks starting June 30, a Disney spokesperson confirmed Friday morning.

“We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie-sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast,”  spokeswoman Kim Prunty told the Orlando Sentinel.

Selfie-sticks will also become forbidden at Disneyland on June 30. The prohibition kicks in at Disney’s parks in Paris and Hong Kong on July 1.

Orlando Attractions Magazine obtained a statement to the cast members which explains that “the selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast.” And the selfie sticks compromise the company’s ability to deliver its four key basics – safety, courtesy, show and efficiency.

Starting June 30, those found with selfie sticks during the security check will be taken to guest relations which will hold on to the selfie stick. The person can retrieve the stick when they leave.

Anyone who has visited the parks recently knows the frustration of trying to watch a stage show, parade or fireworks with these sticks directly in your line of sight. In May, Disneyland and Disney World placed signs up on certain rids, such as Big Thunder Mountain, banning the use of the sticks.

What may have finally tipped the scale, was an incident Wednesday when the California Screamin’ roller coaster at California Adventure at Disneyland was halted after a passenger pulled out a selfie stick while the ride was in progress, according to the Orange County Register.
