Step inside Walt Disney’s private storybook home for a special cause
For one unforgettable weekend, guests will be invited to step inside the very home where Walt Disney’s dreams took tangible form and flourished. “Building A Dream” offers a rare and intimate opportunity to explore Walt Disney’s private storybook home on Woking Way in Los Feliz, California, the beloved residence he built in 1932 and called home until 1950.
Proceeds from “Building A Dream” event, taking place Aug. 22-23, 2025, will benefit The Walt Disney Birthplace & CECCI – The Center for Early Childhood Creativity and Innovation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to restoring the modest Chicago home where Walt Disney was born and fostering future generations of dreamers.
The 6,388 square foot, 12-room house, built in 1932, has four bedrooms, five baths, a pool, a theater and a gymnasium, as well as an acre and a half garden. Attendees will have the unique chance to immerse themselves in Walt Disney’s world through a trio of meticulously curated experiences:
- Dinner at Walt Disney’s Storybook Home: The evening begins with signature cocktails and a private tour of Walt’s home. Guests will then enjoy a beautifully crafted dinner, with each course designed to weave a narrative of Walt’s life, travels, and boundless imagination. The evening culminates with dessert under the stars on the garden patio, promising a few magical surprises, including special guests and never-before-seen Disney artifacts.
- A Spot of Imagination – Afternoon Tea: A refined afternoon gathering set amidst the estate’s enchanting garden. This event will feature live entertainment, exclusive talks from esteemed Disney luminaries, and a selection of teas and treats inspired by Walt’s own favorites, followed by a VIP tour of the historic home.
- Sunset on Woking Way: The pinnacle of the weekend, this elegant evening promises a captivating blend of storytelling, history, and curated conversations with legendary Disney figures and Imagineers. Guests will enjoy private tours, participate in a silent auction, and sip cocktails as the sun sets over the stunning Los Angeles skyline, all while receiving a special commemorative gift.
“We are thrilled and honored to be bringing guests into another remarkable home that also helps tell the story of Walt’s amazing life and creative legacy,” said Dina Benadon, co-founder of The Walt Disney Birthplace. “And we are so grateful that this event will support our arts education advocacy through CECCI to encourage young people to follow their own creative dreams.”
Dusty Sage, the Woking Way estate steward, echoed the sentiment, adding, “Stepping inside Woking Way feels like stepping into the mind of a creative genius. And for one special weekend, guests will get to be part of that magic while contributing to something even bigger…the next generation of storytellers and visionaries.”
