Main Street Electrical Parade returns Jan. 20 to Disneyland for a limited run

The distinctive synthesized sounds of the Main Street Electrical Parade return to Disneyland in January when the parade starts up its West Coast run again.

The parade will be run from Jan. 20, 2017 through June 28, 2017, Disney announced.

The parade premiered at Disneyland in 1972 and left Disneyland in November 1996. ( It did have a stint at California Adventure for a little while.) When the parade returns to Disneyland in January it will bring back the original Main Street Electrical Parade opening float with a train pulling a giant drum unit with “Disneyland Presents … Main Street Electrical Parade” in bright lights on the side.

The parade was performed more than 3,600 times for more than 75 million guests during its original run.

The day before the parade is unveiled to the public, there will be a special after-hours ticketed event. After the park closes, premiere ticket holders will enjoy a night of exclusive access to select Disneyland attractions and select restaurants from 7:30 p.m. to midnight, along with a performance of the Main Street Electrical Parade.

Tickets to the premiere go on sale for Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders on Tuesday, Dec. 6, and to the general public on Tuesday, Dec. 13. They may be purchased at any Disneyland Resort ticket booth or by calling 714-781-4636.
