A new Disney World fireworks party debuts this weekend at the California Grill

Finally, a fireworks party that’s more savory than sweet, more dinner than dessert.

The latest addition to Disney World’s lineup of fireworks parties takes things to a new height — 15 stories up, in fact. Celebration at the Top — Sip, Savor and Sparkle takes place at the California Grill atop the Contemporary Resort.

Check in an hour before fireworks for sushi, small plates and canapés in the restaurant’s private banquet rooms. For the 21-and-over crowd, there will also be a selection of craft beer, California wines, cordials and coffee.

When it’s time for the show, guests go outside on to one of the observations decks, which will be reserved for Celebration at the Top Guests. What this seems to mean for regular California Grill guests is that one of the observation decks will be unavailable one night a week.

After the fireworks are over, head back to the banquet room for dessert — petit fours, cordials and coffee.

Times vary for fireworks, but they have been trending a bit earlier. This Sunday, the first day of the Celebration at the Top event, Wishes is scheduled for 8 p.m. This time next month, the time moves back to 9 p.m.

For now the event is scheduled on Sunday nights only from Feb. 26 to March 26 at a cost is $99 per person. Including tax and tip, the total comes to about $250 for two. The price includes valet parking at the Contemporary Resort.
